STJFL overtime policy will follow the NCAA & UIL rules with the following exceptions:
- The ball will placed on the 25 yard line, 100 yd or 80 yd field.
- 2 overtime periods max.
- If neither team scores, the team whose possession ended closest to the goal line in the 2nd OT period will win the game.
- After 2 overtime periods and the game is tied by score and the both teams drove the ball to the same mark, the game will be recorded as a tie, but the coin flip will be used for playoff qualifications or playoff seeding.
Note: There will not be any overtime in any non-conference games.
Note: Playoffs, we will go with NCAA/UIL overtime rules. A winner will be decided by score. Playoffs will not be decided by penetrations and coin flips.
